My siblings and I were awaken from our deep sleep by the phone ring around 6 plus in the morning. My mum had called to ask for the time. She had thought the time on her handphone was wrong when she saw how bright the sky was. (Yes, the sky is bright by 6am in Taiwan). I was amused. After assuring her that her time was right, I got up while my siblings continued their sleep. After washing up, I went out to explore the surroundings around my hotel.
The streets were pretty empty in the early morning. Most of the shops were not opened yet. There's a breakfast shop selling sandwiches just below my hotel. Some people were having breakfast in that shop at such early hours. The laundry shop was also open already. At the next street along Wenhua Road, there's a Family Mart that opened 24 hours. In the morning, the street looks deserted, in stark contrast to night time.
At around 8am, we went down to level 3 for our hotel breakfast buffet. Many people on the Internet had praises for this hotel's breakfast, so I was looking forward to it. We were greeted by a hotel staff at the lift that led us to the restaurant. I wasn't so impressed with the service at first as the cutleries had not been laid out on the table for us. Then, I realized that due to the food served, it may be more practical for us to take our own cutleries, because some may prefer to use fork and spoon, while others may prefer chopsticks and soup spoon. As we were having our breakfast, the staffs were prompt in clearing our empty plates.
The buffet does not have a wide selection but provided both chinese and western breakfast. It includes porridege, fried rice, vegetables, chicken nuggets, omelette, sausage, pork steak, poach egg, toast and a salad bar. Most of the food were nice except the bean curd which was too hard and the chicken cutlet too dry. There was also a good selection of drinks from coffee/tea to fruit juice and milk. Overall, we enjoyed the breakfast and it was in fact the best breakfast buffet we had during our whole trip.
